Hi,
Is there a way to create a RAID5 set along with a pre-existing RAID1 from OMSA? I'm not seeing anything that would allow me to do that. I have 3 2TB drives, doing nothing, but are not available for RAID5, just 0 or 1.
Thanks

I've got a PowerEdge R630 with a PERC H330 Mini that I'm trying to configure for Microsoft Storage Spaces in Windows Server 2012r2.
But regardless of whether I have the controller set to "RAID" or "Non-RAID" mode, I'm told it's supposed to be set in Non-RAID mode, MPIO does not recognize the H330 as a HBA card and won't add the drives attached to it as enterprise storage.
Hi, I have this issue where someone accidentally press-out a HDD. When we re-seat the HDD, it was shown as foreign. How could we remove the foreign status so that the RAID works as normal again ?
I have read the past posts that the foreign config can only be cleared by BIOS, but what if the server is always powered on ? Can we do it via iDRAC without powering off the server as the HDD were supposed to be hot pluggable. Also we have not set a RAID 5 hot-spare, so we cannot really do a test.
(Thanks to the smart people at Dell to make the HDD eject button a big red O and the power button a small hidden button)
Dear All,
I am having a Dell server which was having windows 2012 R2 standard OS alongwith RAID-5 configuration.
there were 3 virtual drives..
VD 1 containing 3 physical drives on RAID-5
VD 2 containing 3 physical drives on RAID-5
VD 3 containing 2 physical driveson RAID-5
Mistakenly i took all SSDs out of the server and jumbled out the sequence it was on.
I tried deleting all the VirtualDrive groups but unlucky, i tried to find out the sequence but no luck so far.
For the time being i have installed a new SSD(fresh) which wasn't the part of any virtual drive and running my OS on that. But i want to reuse all the drives into the same server and it won't work untill the RAID configuration forgets the SSDs that them were the part of an existing VirtualDrive group.
how can i reuse all the drives, how can i delete the existing virtual drives that i do not want to use.
Need help.
Yours sincerely.
Hello. Tell me please compatible models of SSD drives to 400 GB for the server FC430. If it is possible eMLC. Notified uSATA 1,8in drives, and I'm confused.
Hello,
We would like to install the windows server to SD card or USB drive on the server.
Can we do it? I've called to Dell support Thailand and they said we can't do it.
Since we need to report t our manager we would like a confirmation or report from Dell support.
Can you please provide us the information?
We will wait for the information from you.
Thank you in advance.
Best Regards,
Bill P.
Hi All - I am hoping someone can assist with what should be an easy question but is turning into way more difficult than it should be.
I wish to replace my existing 200Gb SSD drives in my existing VMware vSAN environment.
8 drives in total.
I wish to replace them with 800GB SSD SATA drives. The most economical drives that are fully supported is best as my budget is not big.
The problem is nobody seems capable of telling me what drives are compatible with both my servers and are also on the vSAN HCL (which is crucial)
The VMware HCL does not mention the Dell part numbers so matching them is proving very difficult. My supplier is sending me pricing for drives that differ hugely but still hasn't confirmed support on both platforms.
Please can you help me identify which Dell 800 GB SSD SATA drive(s) I can use in both my R720 and R730 servers that are also on the VMware vSAN Hardware Compatibility list?
Thanks.
We had a T610 with an old SAS 6/ir that we added some drives to and changes from raid 1 to raid 10. Since you cant do a raid 10 on sas 6 cards, we installed a perc 6/i we had sitting around. We updated the firmware to 6.3.3.0002_A and everything seemed to be working fine. However now we are getting random IO locks that range from 4-50 seconds where absolutely nothing happens. We cant even get DNS, dhcp, browse windows, files, etc over network or on console.... We are looking at other possibilities such as chipset drivers etc but we do want to make sure that we are the correct firmware for this server/card or see if anyone else has had this issue?
Hi to all
i have some servers with PERC H200.
I would like to upgrade the raid controller (or even changing the whole server with another one) but without backing up and recovering all datas (1.8TB)
Are there any upgrade plan to move from H200 to something newer like H730 ?
Can I move all disk from an R510 to an R530 and import foreign config? Based on H730 user guide, import from H200 is not supported.
Hi there,
I want to configure a T620 with 12* 8TB HGST HE8 SAS drives.
Can anyone advise whether this will work?
Thank you
Hola tenemos nuestro viejo Power Ege que aún nos da un buen servicio y queríamos instalarle dos nuevos discos duros de 2TB. Donde podemos comprarlos?, vemos que en Estados Unidos hay en estoc pero no los habría aquí en España?
This message appeared on one of our R730 systems after installing the current recommended firmware updates.
the message appears on every restart at the Perc H330 section of the startup screen,
RAID background initialization runs to 100% and then restarts
Not sure how to resolve this.

Hai,
I am having power edge R810(service Tag:7B14QM1).i am confused this 1.2 TB HDD will work with my server for 6 drives or not. 6*1.2 TB.i have the part number(T6TWN) for this HDD.Totally 7.2 TB Storage will support this server
This server is running out of space on the hard drives, RAID1 2x500gb. I want to increase this to 2x1tb.
At Bootup and control-f shows 2-500gb drives in RAID1.
What is the proper way to do this?
Can I shutdown and remove one of the 500gb drives and replace it with one 1tb and let it rebuild upon completion, repeat the same process? Afterwards have 2x1tb in place that are synced, bootable, and working.
Hello,
I have a PowerEdge T410 with a PERC H700 and I needed some additional space in my C drive and so I added a 6th 300GB drive and I the reconfigure and it took 36 hours to go through the reconstruction but I do not see where I can use this new space I added.
I see that my old array was 1115.0GB and now it 1394.0GB. I need this extra 289GB in disk management so that I can expand my C drive.
Please help!
TIA,
Lasareath
In the middle of rebuilding a RAID 10 array with 4x 600GB 15k SAS drives and the speed of the rebuild is really poor (10hrs to get to 45%) are other users of this card finding this is an issue?
I have seen that it can be improved by enabling the Disk Write Cache on the controller which is off by default & the ability to enable it appears to be removed, doing some additional research has throw up loads of post of DONT enable it as the H200 doesnt had a battery backup on the card.
Have people on here enabled it and did it make a difference & have you had any issues with it.
I have a PowerEdge T110 II with Perc S300 Controller. Connected to Controller 1x SSD Harddrive (C drive) and 2x 1Tb Harddrive (D: Drive) configured with Raid 1.
Question:
I want to connect 2x 4Tb harddrives and configure Raid 1 on same controller cable. So then my setup will look like this
1x SSD (C: Drive)
2x 1Tb (D: Drive) Raid 1
2x 4Tb (E: Drive) Raid 1
Will this setup work or do I need to connect harddrives to 2nd Controller cable?
Trying to replace the failed HDD but it shows ready in Server Manager and available options are clear and configure global hot spare. Need valuable inputs as my array contains 19 TB of data.
