I have an issue trying to install the drivers for Windows Server 2008 R2 on a R220.  I have used the following link as advised

and have also tried some other drivers that I found on the Dell site but with no luck.  I have put these onto a blank CD and onto bootable USB drive but with no joy it doesn't seem to see any of them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I have an inquiry for storage server.

I think the best choice is R730xd.

I would like to know the different performance between the following SPEC.

R730xd/E5-2630V3*2/16G*4/H730P...

Spec 1. 6TB x 12 @ RAID6

Spec 2. 6TB x 12 @ RAID 6 + SanDisk DAS Cache + SSD 120G

How to estimate  the value of 4K read/write IOPS for spec1 & spec2?

How to count MB/s sequential read/write for spec1 & spec2?

T320 PERC H310 to H710 Upgrade

I bought a Perc H710 and attempted to switch from the H310 to H710 on my T320. Everything goes fine, I import the foreign configuration, but then the OS (Window 2012 R2) fails to boot. It reaches a screen where it says a problem has been detected and it then reboots. When it starts again it then reboots again.

I put the H310 back in and can boot normally. I don’t really want to go to the trouble of re-installing Windows. Any suggestions?

I have a PE 2950 server with a PERC 6I raid controller.  The server has 4 x 300 GB 15K hot swap hard disk drives installed and is configured for RAID 10.

Drive 0 has failed.  The drives LED is orange / amber.  The error "E1810 HDD 0 fault" is displayed on the front of the server.

We purchased a new replacement drive from Dell.

What is the proper replacement procedure?

Degraded drive in SCSI Array

PowerEdge 2800  Windows Small Business Server 2003 has a degraded drive (blinking yellow) in SCSI array.

I have purchased a new replacement drive, but am unsure as to the procedure.

Is there a step by step procedure to replace the degraded drive with a new drive?

Some of my questions are:

1. What is best practice? Replace Power On Hot Swap, or powered off?

2. Does array rebuild automatically after swap, or need to execute a command?

3. If not automatically rebuilt, is command located in Dell OpenManageServer Administrator program?

Appreciate your help.

Health Monitoring Perc H710 mini Controller in ESXI 6.0

Hi,

i just installed the Dell esxi6.0 customized image on a brandnew Dell PE, but i noticed there in the health section of ESXi you don't see the configured raid volumes.

Do i need to install an additional VIB to be able to see this ?

Offcourse there is the possibility to go out-of-bound and look at the iDRAC to see the status of the raid, but regular operators won't have access to that. It would make much more sense to have this in the hyperviser OS itself).

Any suggestions ?

New Vrtx with M630 blades - Shared Perc 8 driver will not start

We have a new Vrtx (shipped this summer) with M630 blades.

After the initial OS install (windows 2012 datacenter R2), their were only two devices that had no driver installed - they were both raid controllers. The OS was deployed via the Lifecycle controller running the latest package.

After doing windows updates, both those raid controllers were updated to "Shared Perc 8".

After the driver update, the "shared perc 8" has a driver 3/15/2013 6.801.5.0 that points to windows\system32\drivers\percsas2.sys.

The driver has an error saying it cannot start (code 10). An I/O adapter hardware error has occurred.

I've seen that you should obtain a driver for "shared perc 8" from Dell. But I cannot find that driver anywhere.

Does anyone know where to obtain a newer driver for this controller?

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,

I want to upgrade the RAID l. from 1 to 5 on my PowerEdge R710 which has PERC6I.

I would like to know the procedure on how to do this.

Also, I want to know whether the upgrade requires me to erase the RAID configuration and therefore lose all the current data.

Thank you,

Best practices for SSD + RAID?

What should the parity size be when running 2x Samsung 850 Pro SSDs connected to an H710P in a PE R720xd in a RAID 1 array?

Not finding much relevant information online for this..

Is there a white paper for this? something that would tell me the optimal settings when running SSDs on the PERC H710(p) --Essentially all configurable settings when creating a DG/VD.

Using Open Manage to add drives to Perc 6/i and H700?

Hi we just put two new drives each into two of our machines. They are

r410 with Perc 6/i, 2 x 3TB WD Red drives

r510 with H700, 2 x Samsung EVO 250 GB

We plugged in the drives and didn't initialize them before we turned on the machine. Is the only option now to shut the machines down and issue Ctrl + R before boot to manage the drives?

We are not even seeing these newly plugged in drives show up in the Dell OpenManage Server Administrator.

Or is there any other easier alternatives? We have iDRAC express on the machines, but I don't see any options that would help me in there.

Where can I find perccli tool for PERC H710P ( on server PE R820)? OS is ESXi6.0 ( Linux version might also work)

I am trying to follow this document http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2111266

to configure the raid for our R820 server ( already installed ESXi 6.0).

It mentioned there is a perccli tool, but I couldn't find where to get it.

I did some google , and found

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=3XDPP

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=XY978

But seems it only support PERC H730P, not H710P.

Dell PE 320 + RHEL 6.4

Hi

I'm struggling to install RHEL 6.4 on a Dell PE 320.

I've configured RAID 1, but when I get to the stage of choosing the volume to install I get two disks rather than one RAID volume as expected.

Is there some kind of driver CD I have to use? I've tried installing with the lifecycle controller and a newer version of RHEL (6.4 is required for the software application we are installing) and I'm still not getting anywhere with this.

Can anyone shed any light on to what I'm doing wrong here?

Thanks in advance,

Matthew

Windows 2008 doesn't recognize expanded raid 5 array

Dell PoweEdge T610 Server

Windows Server 2008 Standard R2

Raid 1 (C: drive - operating system only)

Raid 5 (D: drive - data etc)

All Windows updates installed

Perc 6/i intergrated controller

I have recently added one additional hard drive to a raid 5 array.   Drive was correct type and matched size of original disks in array.

I had Dell Open Manage Server Administrator (DOMSA) Installed and it reported that all firmware and drivers were OK.

Installed drive
DOMSA recognized new drive

Task of reconfiguring array completed without errors.

However after reconfiguring completed array size in DOMSA and windows hadn't changed.

(I did reboot system here and there to make sure that wasn't the problem)

Hmmmm........

Went to Dell support and downloaded new version of DOMSA and installed it.  This version said frimware version needed to be updates (by a 0.0.1 version change I think).  So I downloaded firmware and completed update successfully.

Now DOMSA recognizes increased size of array and reports that all is well with the world but Windows still reports the array as the size it was before the additional drive was added to array.

I probably forgot to include some important detail so please fire away with any questions or ideas on what I should do next.

Thanks in advance!

PERC S300 Controller on PowerEdge T110 II shows incorrect SSD size

$

Hi,

I recently purchased a PowerEdge T110 II Server and a Crucial MX100 512GB SSD separately. When I boot the server and go into the BIOS setup of the PERC S300 controller, it shows the size of the SSD to be 128GB instead of 512GB. I know the size of the SSD is 512GB because initially when I saw the size of the SSD to be 128GB, I created the virtual disk for 128GB and installed Windows Server on it anyways. When I used Windows Server Administrator to see my servers configuration, it showed the size of the SSD to be 482GB or something but Windows itself only showed the size of the SSD to be 128GB which makes sense because the S300 only allowed me to make a virtual disk of size 128GB.

I need to create a virtual disk out of the SSD otherwise it does not show up in my Windows Server installation as a disk drive on which Windows can be installed on. I am trying to install Window Server 2012 R2.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
